“This Is Climate Change” (TICC) (2010 – 2013) a Del Mar Global Trust project to promote awareness of the present day effects of climate change that are impacting the United States.
The United States lags far behind other countries in terms of government action on climate change and public acceptance that climate change is real. With the idea that “a picture is worth a thousand words,” TICC communicated awareness of an important scientific issues to the general public using visual rather than text information. The large format photos with minimum text conveyed the message, at a glance, to the passing individual.
Del Mar Global Trust sponsored photo displays at Reagan National Airport (Washington, DC,) with an average of over 1.6 million government, business and tourist passengers a month in 2012, and at La Guardia Airport (New York City,) with an average of 2.5 million passengers per month in 2012. The related TICC website had an extensive explanatory text of the science behind climate change and more photo examples. The TICC project was also promoted on Facebook and Twitter.
